The Bible teaches that God is love and that He wants to save humanity from the bondage and destruction of sin and restore broken relationships. But how does He do this? How can God remain just and yet forgive sinners?

The only solution was for an innocent person without sin to volunteer to pay the price for our sins. This was the only possible solution. Since we have all sinned, God himself was the only person in the universe who could bear the sins of the entire world.

The Bible says that God became a man for this purpose, and His name is Jesus Christ. We celebrate Christmas every year to celebrate His birth.

Jesus said of Himself, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last." (Revelation 22:13) Jesus said He was the beginning—no one created Him. He is "the image of the invisible God." (Colossians 1:15) He is both God and man.

During His life on earth, Jesus faced the same temptations as we do, yet He remained sinless. Despite being humiliated, He willingly took the punishment for our sins, and out of His infinite love for us, He died for us.

Jesus gave his life to cover our sin. He allows God to see us not as sinners but as Jesus' perfect obedience and holiness. Without Jesus, our sin would separate us from God. But because of Jesus, our sin is cleansed, our relationship with God is restored, and we are saved from spiritual death.

But there's more. After Jesus died and was buried in a tomb, he rose again three days later! (His death and resurrection is what we call a resurrection.) He predicted his own resurrection to his disciples. True to his words, his resurrection from the dead demonstrated the truth of his claim—that he is the Giver of life, the God who created humanity. He also conquered physical death, enabling us to be resurrected like him and live forever with him.

Jesus gave his life so that we can be forgiven, redeemed, and receive eternal life. This is God's gift to us. This gift of love is available to us if we repent of our sins and trust in Jesus. He calls us to trust in Him as our Savior and to return Him to His rightful place as Lord of our lives.

If you have believed in Jesus, all guilt has been erased. The sin that separated you from God has been removed. As the Bible says, you are no longer God's enemy; you are His friend: "Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1).
